I liked the phone, especially the camera. I changed to this model for its sake. The size is large, but not too big. I chose the always relevant black colour. Stylish look, good mobilespecs. net wi-fi connects well, easy to use, especially for those who mainly use Samsung. Everything was reinstalled from the old phone. It works quickly. So far, I am completely satisfied

I would point out something that almost everyone in the field of photography has known for over 30+ years. The Zeiss and Leica optics on the Sony cameras and smartphones as well as the Leica lenses on the Panasonic cameras are NOT made by Zeiss and Leica. They are made by Sony and Panasonic to Zeiss and Leica specifications. It was much more important back in the "Darkroom Ages" when the name meant German lens technology which had a superior reputation over Japanese lens technology. As a matter of fact the new "L"
lenses made by Sigma for Leica and Panasonic cameras are the next step in that arrangement while Sony´s is to obviate the Zeiss name by producing their G and G Master lenses. One or both of them may still produce the same models with the Zeiss and Leica names, but they may fade into history in a decade or so.

As an addition to my previous comment after having a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge for several years I used to charge it wirelessly with a base charger. Both my wife and I have previously had trouble with the charging port on Samsung's and believe that this is or has been a weakness on this particular brand.

Now the Google Pixel 4a 5g does not support base charging and requires that the cable be plugged into the charging port. Now rather than wasting my base chargers I found on Amazon a wireless charging receiver now I can use my base chargers again.

The receiver plus into the charging port and if I wanted to connect to a computer then I would have to remove this but I can transfer files by cloud if necessary.

I've just acquired a Pixel 4a 5g from a technology benefit scheme through my workplace.

I'm quite happy with it. After having a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge the Pixel handles quite well in comparison.

The Google Pixel 4a 5g does not have a memory expansion slot for a Micro SD card but it does have 128GB of memory so this should be sufficient for most users.

If it hasn't got a stylus it's not a Note, just trading on the real thing's name.

Hi Paul,

We're not the only site finding the battery life of the 4 XL lacklustre:

Yes, the 4XL has more mAh than the 3XL, but that does not mean that battery life is going to be better, particularly if the screen (or other components) use more power. (The Pixel 4 has less mAh than the 3).

Not sure you are actually really reviewing with a phone as this has a bigger battery than my 3XL and the battery on that lasts all day easily, and I use mine. You say "it drains quickly; you only have to glance at the battery icon to see the gauge emptying" has to be absolute rubbish. Google with Android have done a great deal to make the battery power last longer they would not compromise their flagship phone in this way. Lets see some proper data rather than an opinion based on the specs. Then I look at your iPhone reviews and I can clearly see what's going on here....if Apple say it's okay it must be so. Not impressed.

Just a pity about the over-processed look, when one opens the 40mp shot of the trees, the branches and foliage look quite unnatural due to heavy processing, was really hoping Huawei would start dialling back the processing for a more natural look like the age old Nokia 808 which had very natural looking details...
