Dave (CEB) I suggest you post this question in the main forum area as nobody will see this buried away on an old review article.

I know it's an old article but I have the opportunity to buy this lens attached to an Olympus OM-D E-M1 II for a decent price and was wondering how this lens actually performs after all this time, well, eleven years actually. I'm a fan of older equipment but usually in the "Ancient" realm of Tamron Adaptall and Canon FD mount lenses but I have never ventured into more "Modern" lenses like this. Is it worth my time and money?

In a matter of 3 years I have had eight TG 6's fail. We go on snorkeling trips 3 times a year. On the first day of a trip, one will suffer minor water inundation and stop working within two minutes of entering the water. Sand also penetrates the water proofing and stops the locking mechanism's from closing securely.
Look for something more reliable!

I have been using mine everyday for the last 3 years without any issues and still using the original nib and have never removed the protective layer on the screen, I cannot compare it to the 4k Wacom as I have never used one but the 2k resolution is more than capable for my needs, I personally think it’s great value considering I have used it everyday for over a thousand days , my usage is vector graphics rather than photo retouching, I have no regrets with my purchase

When I bought my TG-6 I was astonished to discover that, despite paying the best part of £500 , Olympus then wanted ANOTHER £35 if you'd like a lens cap! Interestingly one of those ubiqitous online shopping portals can suplly something cheaper.

I rather like the sound of this lens.
It would make a good landscape pair with the Tamron 70-300, which is said to perform well at f11. Together they’d cost about £1,700, which isn’t awful to get 20-300mm. If I want really wide for particular purposes, I’d just get a basic 14mm MF - who needs AF for that focal length.
I prefer having 105-300mm to having 14-20mm. As for 16-105mm - that just isn’t enough range over 2 lens, especially at a combined cost of £2,300 (for the f4s).

LOL. It's amazing what a difference a full stop makes in the right place. Grin

I have Neo, been an owner of the Luminar / Skylum products since doubting lightroom a few years back and buying into the ethos of paying one price once to compete against lightroom but every year they have been back asking for more and the latest pricing for subscriptions / additional cost for the latest features gives a massive pause.

It's not a bad product, they have solved most of the performance issues and if you were new to photo processing and didn't want the lightroom learning curve it is a good place to start - the biggest draw back then is the lack of library functionality.

However, the subscription is now more expensive than lightroom and the product isn't strong enough.

"a not insubstantial 98mm x 1395mm"

Is it really nearly a metre and a half long? Wink
